Last year, Mae had "Spanxiety." Anytime we would go somewhere, she would ask "Will the people there speak English or Spanish?" If the answer was Spanish, she would battle us the whole way there. If she was being left with a Nicaraguan babysitter, I always had to arrange for an English-speaker on call to ease her anxiety. This year, she has done a complete 180. For the first time, NCA is offering an extra Spanish class to English speaking students in Kindergarten (Mae!) for an hour and a half 3 days a week (in addition to the 30 minute class they already had built into their day). We are so thankful, because Mae LOVES this class, she loves her teacher, Mrs. Flores, and she now loves Spanish! She often wanders around singing in Spanish, she is reading in Spanish, and she is even brave enough to have conversations in Spanish. We are so thankful to NCA for making this class a priority.
