30 Day of Thanksgiving in Nicaragua: Day 1--Dexter's Best Friend

It's that time of year again! Last year, on each day in November, we gave thanks for something or someone in our lives--from popsicles, bikes and carpooling to trampolines, co-workers, and frisbee games, we had a lot to be thankful for way back in 2014 (check it out here!). It is suddenly November again, and we have a long list of "new" things for which we want to thank God. . .so again, our challenge to ourselves is to write a short post each day in November highlighting one blessing (small or large!) in our lives. Enjoy, and be encouraged to be full of thanksgiving, for God is good!

Day 1: Dexter's Best Friend
Dexter, our dear white-faced Capuchin monkey, would prefer to be with someone all of the time. To say that monkeys are "social" animals is an understatement--Dexter craves touch and play and attention more than our three kids put together. As humans, however, we're not always big fans of the way Dexter likes to play (i.e. biting, pulling our hair, peeing on us). . .and honestly, we don't have hours each day of monkey play time. So when our neighbors got a new Boxer puppy, we were thrilled that suddenly Dexter had a new best, non-human friend! They play rough, but so far, no blood has been drawn, and Dexter seems a little less needy for our sub-par human interactions. And he pees on us less. So we're thankful for Eskimo, the boxer puppy from next door! Three cheers for Dexter's favorite puppy!
