Even though we will NEVER get a Snow Day here, we do end up getting quite a few days off of school that those of you in the States would never get. Today, our kids get to leave school at lunch time because it is "Day of the Dead," when many Nicaraguans go to visit family and loved ones in cemeteries. This is one of many Nicaraguan holidays that NCA observes throughout the year. Last week school was unexpectedly cancelled in the middle of the day because of political riots throughout the city. Although we have not had one this year yet, we have had MANY Earthquake Days in our time here. We have discovered that it doesn't really matter what the reason is--our kids are always thankful for a break from school!
